Rework of test weights

What rework on my test weights can I expect/can I do?

Test weights are commodities - regardless of how carefully you handle them, changes and wear may occur.

These changes - also depending on the accuracy class - are often not visible to the naked eye. During calibration, however, these changes can be detected.

In most cases, excessively large deviations can be corrected by reworking. The various measures that may be necessary for test weights are listed further down on this page. Please refer to our price list for the costs of the measures.

As a general rule: Since all measures cause additional costs for you, they will only be carried out after consultation with you. If you wish to agree to the necessary measures in advance (also possible with a cost ceiling), please let us know and make a note of this on the accompanying documents. In this way, we can keep the turnaround time for the calibration of your weights as short as possible and there will be no further delays for you.

Adjustment

If the weight value of a weight is outside the required tolerances and the design of the weight allows it, an adjustment can make the weight conform to its tolerance specification again.

For this purpose, the weight is professionally machined. This can be done by filling/emptying the adjustment chamber or by polishing - depending on the accuracy class.

Replacement

If no adjustment is possible or the replacement of the weight is more favorable than this, a weight which is out of tolerance will be replaced by a new weight.

In this case, you will of course receive the weight that is no longer within tolerance back, in separate packaging with the note "OOT (out of tolerance)". The value of the replaced weight is noted in the calibration certificate.

Please note that normally the same serial and inventory number is used for exchanged weights as for the previously used weight, as this is replaced one-to-one (within the scope of its intended use or set affiliation). If you do not want this, please give us an info here that you need a new serial/inventory number for weights to be exchanged.

Demagnetization

Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that weights become magnetic due to various factors. Since this can affect the conventional weight value and your weighings, we recommend - where technically possible - demagnetization in these cases.

With our equipment we can usually demagnetize your weights professionally. If demagnetization is not possible or not successful, the weight must be replaced.

Reconditioning of weights by sandblasting and painting

Especially with heavy-duty weights of accuracy class M, use in rather rough environmental conditions often results in signs of wear and tear.

For cast iron weights, we are happy to offer you a reconditioning by sandblasting and painting, so that your weights shine again in new splendor.

The costs for this are available on request.

Marking of weights

You have several weights with the same nominal value and the same accuracy class? In order to be able to distinguish these weights, we are happy to offer you a marking of the weights. You can choose the marking yourself (e.g. by letters or numbering).

By means of etching we can mark your weights in such a way that they can be differentiated without any doubt. This procedure causes only a minimal removal of the weight, so that the conventional weight value changes only slightly.

Nevertheless, in case of marking, we recommend calibration of the weight before as well as after marking.
